The GOLDEN state

“The GOLDEN State” is a visual meditation on the sociopolitical tensions and cultural complexities of contemporary America. This body of work was born out of a desire to confront the emotional and psychological landscape shaped by the Trump administration, and to explore how these forces ripple through our collective consciousness.

Through a series of mixed media paintings and drawings, I reimagine our current moment as a surreal, allegorical narrative—one that blends the fantastical with the deeply personal. The imagery is intentionally dreamlike, yet grounded in reality, reflecting themes of racism, classism, immigration, sexism,

and governmental overreach. These works are not literal depictions, but rather poetic interpretations of the anxieties and contradictions that define our time. My practice draws inspiration from Classical art, multi-ethnic antiquity, and modern advertising, weaving together disparate visual languages to create layered, introspective compositions. The figures and symbols in this series serve as vessels for storytelling, each one representing a fragment of our shared experience. Portraiture becomes a tool for narrative, allowing me to explore identity, resilience, and the emotional weight of social constructs.

This exhibition marks the beginning of an ongoing series that will chronicle the people, events, and emotional truths of our era. It is both a personal and public archive—a space where beauty and discomfort coexist, and where viewers are invited to reflect, question, and engage.

Ultimately, “The GOLDEN State” is a call to see beyond the surface, to recognize the humanity within the chaos, and to imagine new possibilities for empathy, justice, and transformation.
